Following the emotional, powerful memorial for Andy Irons on the island of Kauai, the North Shore of Oahu lit up with an early season swell. Our pal, Jamie Sterling (big wave charger, surf adventurer and surf guide) sent us this video clip of a recent mission to China of all places to surf a tidal bore! I’d heard about the mission, but couldn’t really wrap my head around it until watching this video. It’s a well produced, short video about the trip and surfing this amazing river wave. Two of our favorite local artists, Glenn Gravett and David Pu’u will be showing their work at Santa Barbara’s First Thursday event, October 7, 2010. If you are in or around SB, come on down to “Couch” (9 W. Ortega Street) and check out some of their awesome work. Glenn is best known for his fine art paintings, many of which depict scenes from our beloved Central Coast. David will no doubt have some of his stunning water photography on display.
